Site-based training for operatives working at height and for those managing work at height operations

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause injury. They place duties on employers, the self-employed and any person who controls the work of others. Training can be tailored to a particular industry or working method and will provide the essential skills and knowledge needed to manage work at height operatives, operate a safe system of work or to effect a safe and swift evacuation or rescue. We can assist you in choosing the right safety training solution for your requirements and environment and provide ongoing re-certification and work at height support.

Case Study – Emergency Evacuation & Rescue Training

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 state the duty holder has the responsibility for emergency planning and rescue provision – as the often varied and diverse nature of work at height prevents the emergency services being able to respond quickly enough.

Following a thorough review of a particular organisation’s requirements, PTSG provided a self-contained rescue and evacuation system and training regime for over 160 employees. Carried out over several months, groups of up to eight employees were put through their paces by our experienced work at height instructors. The training was a mixture of practical and theory – the practical being completed at height in a real-life situation in the work place. Competency was assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the practical training and by a written test. Upon successful completion each employee was certificated for a 12-month period. Working closely with PTSG, further improvements were made to the safety systems to help the client achieve compliance with the Work at Height Regulations and facilitate easier and safer rescues/emergency evacuations should the situation ever arise.
